How to market a foster home?

In the end, you as the foster parent must market your foster home.  If your a county home or work with an agency there is a business side of foster care. To be considered for placement of youth you have to show what you have of offer a youth.

A map, pictures of the home, pictures of foster parents will help case workers in selecting homes.  Foster Youth should not be in the photos in a manner YOU can see them.   Use back of the head picture, so no one can tell who it is.    Select photos carefully not to break a rule.

In the selection process any thing you can add to a profile, what services you have locally for the youth the better.   School services may be a key, your skills working with a youth educational needs is a key you can use to market your home.

As many will find, a home study is on paper and by reading it is hard to sort out what is there for the youth.   Placing youth in a home is not as easy as it sounds.



It will take some time to develop a marketing plan.   Your agency has the information on file, but not all case workers will know each foster home.

If you take in youth from several counties,  this idea will allow them to look at your home in pictures, so foster homes have develop an on line view of their home.
